Quick Answer: Aron Movers is a family-owned moving company based in Oaklyn, about 15 minutes from Voorhees, and we have been moving Voorhees families and businesses since 1958. We are licensed in New Jersey (NJ License #39PM00033600) and for interstate moves (USDOT 757960, MC 568794), so moves to or from Philadelphia are covered too. Hiring movers in Voorhees NJ means hiring a crew that knows the township is really three different kinds of moves. Good Voorhees NJ movers know that a townhome off Main Street has one assigned space and a guest lot a long carry away, that Centennial Mill has a gate and a guard who needs your mover’s name, and that a colonial in Sturbridge Lakes has a two-car driveway and a basement full of 25 years of stuff, and that the township won’t let you close on the sale until the resale inspection passes. Here is how we plan Voorhees moves, what the township expects when you move out, and answers to common questions about moving in Voorhees.

What We Plan Around on a Voorhees Move

Townhomes, Condos, and HOA Parking

Voorhees has more attached housing than most of its neighbors: Main Street and the Mews at Echelon, Piazza, Lake Villa, Tomlinson Green, Victoriana, Kirkwood, and Green Ridge, plus the apartment buildings around Voorhees Town Center. Nearly all of them are HOA communities with assigned parking, and that is the first thing we plan. A 26-foot truck cannot sit in a guest spot, so before move day we look at where the truck can stage closest to your door without blocking a fire lane or a neighbor’s space. The farther the crew has to carry, the longer the job takes, and on an hourly move that shows up on the bill.

Most HOA communities do not ask for a certificate of insurance from your mover, but the apartment buildings near Town Center often do, and some want a reserved elevator or loading window. Ask your management office as soon as your date is set and we send the COI straight to them. More on apartment moves in South Jersey.

Gated and 55+ Communities

Centennial Mill is gated, and Traditions at Laurel Oaks is an active-adult community with its own rules. Both need to know a moving truck is coming. Call the gatehouse or management office with our company name and your move date, and ask whether they limit moving hours or require the truck to enter through a specific gate. A lot of our Voorhees work is moves into these communities from larger homes in Voorhees, Cherry Hill, and Marlton, and downsizing is a job we know well (more on that below).

Route 73, Route 561, and Getting the Truck There

Voorhees is about 11 square miles with no highway running through it, so the truck comes in on Route 73 from the north, Haddonfield-Berlin Road (Route 561) from the west, or White Horse Road and Evesham Road between them. Morning traffic on Route 73 near Virtua Voorhees and on Route 561 near the Lindenwold PATCO station is the slow part of the trip. We build that into our arrival time so the crew isn’t sitting in it on your clock.

Moving in Voorhees Neighborhoods

Each part of the township changes how we plan the day:

  • Sturbridge Lakes, Sturbridge Estates, and Sturbridge Hills: The core of Voorhees, colonials and split-levels from the 1970s through the 1990s with driveways, garages, and full basements. These are the moves where the walkthrough matters most, because the basement and garage are where the extra hours hide.
  • Lakes at Alluvium, Lost Tree, Ryder Club, La Bonne Vie, and Staffordshire Farm: Larger and newer homes on bigger lots. More rooms means a bigger crew and a longer day, and an in-home or video walkthrough gives you a much more accurate estimate.
  • Main Street, Mews at Echelon, Piazza, and Lake Villa: Townhomes and attached homes near Voorhees Town Center, popular with young professionals and downsizers. Plan for assigned parking and stairs, since most townhomes here have living space on three levels.
  • Tomlinson Green, Victoriana, Kirkwood, and Green Ridge: Condo communities where the truck stages in a lot and the crew carries from there. We plan the closest legal spot before we arrive.
  • Centennial Mill and Traditions at Laurel Oaks: 55+ communities. Gate and management notification, and often a downsizing move with a second stop at a family member’s house or a donation drop.
  • Heritage Grove, Cherrybrook, Hearthstone, Rainwood, Huntington Ridge, and Fairway Estates: Established single-family streets with mature trees. We check for low branches before we back the truck in.

Voorhees Town Center: What’s Changing

If you are moving to Voorhees, you will hear about the old Echelon Mall. Township Hall already sits inside the building, Boscov’s is still open, and in October 2025 the Township Committee approved a $250 million redevelopment plan that would add more than 200 market-rate townhouses and over 100 affordable apartments and townhomes around the mall, along with restaurants and a parking garage. As of early 2026 the developer said the project depends on a state tax credit, with construction possible in early 2027 if it comes through. For the next few years, expect Town Center to be a construction zone, and if you are moving into or out of the Main Street apartments or the townhomes nearby, tell us so we can plan the truck route around it.

Downsizing From a Voorhees Home

A lot of Voorhees moves are families who bought in Sturbridge or Alluvium in the 1980s or 1990s and are now moving to Centennial Mill, a townhome near Main Street, or closer to grandkids. Those moves have more decisions in them than boxes: what fits in the new place, what goes to the kids, what gets sold, and what goes to the curb. We break them into pieces (our senior moving services page covers how). We can deliver the keeper pieces to the new home, run a second load to a family member’s house, and haul the rest away during the same job. Our packing crew handles the china cabinet, the artwork, and the boxes you would rather not lift.

Moving Between Philadelphia and Voorhees

Voorhees doesn’t have its own PATCO station, but the Lindenwold station at the end of the line is right across the township line, and Center City is about 25 minutes from there. That is why so many of our Voorhees customers are coming over from Philadelphia. The move is about 15 miles over the Ben Franklin or Walt Whitman Bridge, but it crosses a state line, which makes it an interstate move. Interstate household-goods movers need a USDOT number and operating authority from the FMCSA. Aron Movers holds both (USDOT 757960, MC 568794) along with our New Jersey license. Before you hire anyone for a Philly-to-Voorhees move, look up their USDOT number and read our guide to moving company red flags.

Your Voorhees Move-Out Checklist

A few township rules that catch people on the way out. Confirm details with Voorhees Public Works at 856-428-5499 or on the township’s bulk trash page.

  • Bulk trash is once a month: Furniture, mattresses, carpet, and anything that won’t fit in your blue cart are collected only during the third full week of each month, on your regular trash day. Miss it and the next window is a month away, so check the township’s 2026 bulk dates against your closing.
  • Not accepted in bulk trash: Electronics, hazardous materials, and construction or remodeling debris. TVs and computers have to go to an electronics recycling drop-off.
  • Selling or renting out your home? Voorhees requires a Residential Resale Certificate (or Rental Certificate for a new tenant) from the Zoning Department before settlement. Details are in the next section, but the short version: apply at least two weeks out, because the standard $75 inspection takes 10 or more business days and a same-day rush costs $200.
  • Dumpsters and containers: Voorhees does not require a township permit for a dumpster in your driveway, but the ordinance requires it to be covered at all times and the police enforce it. Your HOA is the one to ask about dumpsters and portable containers, because many townhome and condo associations restrict where they can go and for how long.
  • Trucks on residential streets: Township code bars commercial vehicles over 8,000 pounds from residential zones except when they are picking up or delivering. A moving truck working your move is fine. A rental truck or trailer parked on the street overnight is not, so plan to load and go.
  • Too much for the curb? We can clear out unwanted furniture and junk during your move. Carrying it to the curb or your community’s dumpster is billed at our hourly rate. If it needs to go to the landfill, we add the disposal fee the Pennsauken landfill charges by weight.

Selling a Voorhees Home? The Resale Certificate Comes First

This is the one that catches Voorhees sellers. Before a home changes hands, the township Zoning Department has to inspect it and issue a Residential Resale Certificate, and settlement can’t happen without it. Here is what the township’s application covers, so nothing surprises you the week of the move:

  • Timing and fees: The standard inspection is $75 and takes 10 or more business days. Expedited (2 to 10 business days) is $125, rush (1 to 2 days) is $150, and same-day is $200. A failed item means a reinspection ($75 for the first, $150 for each after that). The certificate expires 60 days after it is issued if settlement hasn’t happened, so don’t apply too early either.
  • Smoke and CO detectors: A smoke detector on every level, including the basement, and a carbon monoxide detector outside each sleeping area within 10 feet. Since 2019, every battery-powered smoke alarm has to be a 10-year sealed unit. Swap them before the inspector shows up, not after.
  • House numbers: Arabic numerals at least 3 inches tall, mounted on the building itself (not stick-on), at least 30 inches off the ground, and visible from the street.
  • Zoning compliance: The inspector checks the property against the township land-use code, and the Zoning Office says plainly that a resale certificate cannot be issued while a violation exists. An unpermitted shed, deck, patio, fence, or driveway extension can hold up your closing, so if you added anything without a permit, apply for it now.
  • Pools: Fencing and gates must meet the swimming pool code.
  • What to submit: Single-family homes need a recent property survey (within 60 days is recommended); condos don’t. Questions go to the Zoning Department at 856-429-0647 or resales@voorheesnj.com, weekdays 8:30 to 4:30. The application is on the township Zoning page under Resales and Rentals.

Renting the house out instead? The same office issues the Residential Rental Certificate for each new tenant, and landlords file an annual registration with the township.

Voorhees Moving FAQs

Where does the moving truck park at a Voorhees townhome or condo?

As close to your door as the community allows. Our trucks are 26-foot straight-body trucks and won’t fit in an assigned or guest space, so before move day we figure out the nearest spot that doesn’t block a fire lane or a neighbor. If your HOA has rules about where moving trucks can stage, tell us when you book. A shorter carry means a shorter job.

Do I need to notify Centennial Mill or my HOA that movers are coming?

Yes. Centennial Mill is gated, so the gatehouse needs our company name and your move date. Other HOA and 55+ communities may limit moving hours or require notice to management. Most HOA communities don’t require a certificate of insurance from your mover, but apartment buildings near Town Center often do, and we send it directly to management.

When does Voorhees pick up bulk trash?

Once a month, during the third full week of the month, on your regular trash day. Furniture, mattresses, carpet, and other items that won’t fit in your blue cart are accepted; electronics, hazardous materials, and construction debris are not. Public Works is at 856-428-5499. If your closing doesn’t line up with bulk week, we can haul it away during your move.

Does Voorhees require an inspection when I sell my house?

Yes. Voorhees requires a Residential Resale Certificate from the township Zoning Department before settlement, and a Rental Certificate before a new tenant moves in. The inspector checks smoke detectors on every level (10-year sealed units), CO detectors near bedrooms, 3-inch house numbers on the building, pool fencing, and whether every shed, deck, fence, and patio has a permit. The standard inspection is $75 and takes 10 or more business days; same-day is $200. Call the Zoning Department at 856-429-0647 and get it scheduled before moving day.

Is moving from Philadelphia to Voorhees a local move?

No. Even though it is only about 15 miles, a move between Philadelphia and Voorhees crosses a state line, so it is an interstate move. The mover needs a USDOT number and FMCSA operating authority. Aron Movers is USDOT 757960 and MC 568794, and we also hold NJ License #39PM00033600.

How much do movers in Voorhees NJ cost?

Local moves in Voorhees are billed by the hour, so the cost depends on crew size, how much you are moving, and access at both homes, such as stairs, elevators, and how close the truck can park. A three-level townhome or a house with a full basement takes longer than the square footage suggests, which is why we recommend an in-home or video walkthrough. New Jersey requires movers to give you a written estimate at least 24 hours before the move. See our South Jersey moving costs guide for typical ranges, or call (856) 854-1993 for a free quote.
