Quick Answer: Need furniture moved to another room or another floor without moving out? Aron Movers handles in-home furniture moving across South Jersey. We call these jobs shifts: moving a bedroom downstairs, clearing rooms before floors are refinished and putting everything back after, or carrying heavy pieces up and down the stairs. Our own crews, the same care as a full move. Call 856-854-1993.

What a shift is

A shift is a move where nothing leaves the house. The furniture goes from one room to another, from upstairs to downstairs, or out of a room and back in again. There is no truck to load and no new address, but the heavy lifting, the stairs, and the risk to your floors and walls are the same as on moving day.

Why people call us for in-home furniture moving

  • Moving a bedroom downstairs. When the stairs get hard, the bed, dresser, and nightstands come down to a first-floor room.
  • Floor refinishing or new carpet. The room has to be completely empty before the work starts, and everything has to go back after.
  • Painting and renovations. Furniture moved out of the way, then set back where it was.
  • Heavy pieces on the stairs. Dressers, armoires, sleeper sofas, and other pieces nobody should be carrying up or down a staircase on their own.
  • Rearranging a home. Swapping two rooms, turning a spare room into an office, or making space before new furniture is delivered.
  • Clearing out an attic. Everything brought down to a main room so it can be sorted, donated, or thrown out.

An attic’s worth of boxes and furniture, brought down to the living room so the family could sort and downsize.

Moving furniture for floor refinishing

Floor jobs are one of the most common shifts we do. They usually take two visits: one to empty the rooms before the floor crew starts, and one to put everything back once the floors are ready to walk on. We move the furniture into another room, the garage, or the basement, wherever you have space.

Ask your floor company how long the floors need before furniture can go back on them, and book both visits as soon as you have their dates. Moving furniture back too early can mark a fresh finish.

Moving a bedroom downstairs

This is the shift we do most for older homeowners who want to stay in their house. We take the bed apart, carry it and the rest of the bedroom down, and set it all back up in the new room so it is ready to sleep in that night. If you would like, we can move the furniture that was in that room up to the bedroom it is replacing.

If staying is not the plan, our senior moving services cover downsizing, moves into 55+ communities, and everything that goes with them.

How we handle a shift

  • Floor and doorway protection along the path
  • Taking apart beds and anything else that has to come apart, and putting it back together in its new spot
  • Placing every piece where you want it

Our crews are employed directly by Aron Movers. What in-home furniture moving costs

Shifts are billed by the hour, plus travel time, the same way as our local moves. The price depends on how many pieces are moving, how heavy they are, and how many stairs are involved. Send us photos or walk us through it on a video call, and we will tell you how many movers the job needs and about how long it should take.
